Event details
The Five Shires of the West hereby extend a grand invitation to come and be a part of the strength and pageantry the western marches!  Shire Wars is a competitive event between the Shires of Blak Rose, Hartshorn-dale, Montevale, Owlsherst and Silver Rylle.  The line has been drawn.  Some will fight in honor of Fauna while others will defend the Flora.  Several contests will be had to determine what part of nature will triumph for the day.

For all contests, there are positions open for mercs who would like to fight for their favorite part of nature.  Guidelines for the different competitions will be on the Event Website, www.blastedoak.com/shirewars .

There will be 2 fighting contests, namely:  A Warlord Tourney which starts as an Atlantian speed tourney with a team winner, and an elimination tourney where the winner of each bout earns a point for their chosen part of nature.  All points will be combined for a Heavy Rattan War Point.

Each rattan participant must bring an item to put into a treasure chest, which will then be awarded to the winning leader of the Warlord tourney to distribute amongst his team and to the elimination winner.

Other marshal competitions will include an archery shoot, thrown weapons and fencing.

But we cannot forget the competitive nature of those who participate in the 'gentler' arts.  There will be a gaming competition.  There is a bardic challenge to sing the praises of flora and fauna.  A heraldry competition for novices in the heraldic arts and for those with more experience.  And very special, the men's and ladies heraldic garb competition.  And everyone get's a chance to earn point's toward their chosen part of nature.  Age for these competitions is of no consequence.

There will be a herald's table for those wishing to register their names, devices, or badges, led by Eleazar ha Levi.

Lady Violet, Lady Alana and Lord Mael Eoin plan a hearty dayboard and feast fit for a people at siege.  Please bring your favorite dessert for a potluck dessert board to be available after feast.

HRH Thyra is quite fond of dancing.  Do not forget to bring your dancing shoes and prove your courtliness at the evening dance.

There are ample opportunities for our youth to get involved in the War, in every aspect; service, martial, or A&S.  We'd like to encourage everyone to bring personal tokens to recognize the efforts of our young people, who work just as hard as we do.

And something unique, that is a challenge unto itself designed by Maestra Isabel Ximenez de Gaucin.  What can people from 3 or more different shires create together? The goal is finding complementary skills which would be used by craftsmen of our period to create a work of art or science.  For help in this challenge contact the Maestra and look at http://tinyurl.com/ShireWars2012AnS .

Merchants are welcome!  Please contact the deputy autocrat with questions.

The site is dry.

Unfortunately we cannot have dogs on site unless it is a service animal.  Please contact the deputy autocrat to let her know you will be bringing your service dog with you.
