Event details
Once again, we will be having our annual Harper's Retreat Labor Day weekend in scenic New Durham, NH.  The theme for this year is "The History of the SCA." Come and bring the old stories and old songs to share with a new generation.

Lady Karrah the Mischievous, the current Baronial Bard of Stonemarche, will be running the Bardic Tournament Saturday night to help Their Excellencies, Baron Xavier and Baronessa Maria, choose their new Baronial Bard.  For the Bardic tourney, the competition will be as follows:

Two rounds, of two differing kinds of pieces (they can either be two different types of bardic-ness..  such as a song and a story, or story and a poem.....  OR have two different topics...  such as one about battle and one about love.).  Obviously, the theme must be the History of the SCA.  They can fill that requirement either by having the history as the subject piece, or by having their piece written by an historic or influential person from SCA History.

Their Excellencies will also be sponsoring tournies to choose their new Baronial Champions of Rattan, Rapier and Archery this weekend.

And, as always, there will be a feast Saturday night, before the Bardic.  The feast is capped at 100 seats.

Merchants are welcome, and there is no additional fee for merchanting.

There will be a class schedule as well - please contact Lady Sine if you would like to teach!  This includes martial classes as well as non-martial - if there is enough teachers, we will set aside a martial classes area.

Please be aware:  there are restrictions as to driving on the grass that will be enforced this year.  Also, the beach will be available again for swimming, but it will be at your own risk, as there is no lifeguard.  Children MUST be accompanied by an adult on the beach - if children are found there unaccompanied, the beach will be immediately closed for the rest of the event to everyone.  This is not negotiable.
