Tourney of a Thousand Veils Event date: September 20th, 2014
Hosted by Shire of Lyndhaven - Oromocto, NB
Event Last Modified: June 2nd, 2014
Event details
The heat of summer gives way to the crisp winds of autumn.  In anticipation of a good harvest, the Shire of Lyndhaven has decided to hold a grand tournament!

The Tourney of a Thousand Veils is all about the spectacle of the lists.  Combatants who enter the tourney bring with them three handkerchiefs tied to their armour as favours.  Every spectator in the crowd also has two handkerchief favours.  Bouts will be fought in no particular order, with one combatant challenging another.  The winner of the challenge takes a favour from the defeated.  Then the crowd bestows any favours they so choose, based upon their whims.  As the day continues, the number of favours claimed by the victors will increase.

During lulls in the fighting, entertainers will perform for the crowd.  A dayboard will be available with food and beverages for one and all.

When there are only two combatants left with favours, the finals will immediately start.  The finals will be three bouts, and before the last bout all favours from the crowd must have been bestowed.  The number of favour claimed by the winner of each bout will be determined by the attendance at the event.

Before the tourney, there will be an A&S display table set up in the main hall.  Also before the tourney, there will be an SCA 101 class to help newcomers feel more welcomed.

After the tourney, there will be a potluck feast.  Every adult who plans to partake in the feast needs to bring a dish to share.  After the feast, there will be music and dancing.

Fighters wishing to particpate in the tourney are asked to contact the event steward, AotroĆ¹ [Lord] Conogan mab Rioc.

This is a dry event.  Only service animals may be brought to the event.  Candles must be in non-combustible containers (i.e.  no wooden candlesticks).
