Event details
Brussels, 1511.  A long brutal winter during which it snowed for six weeks straight prompted the city of Brussels to hold a winter festival.  Along with merrymaking and celebration, the main event encouraged villagers of all classes to embrace the snow by building snowmen.  Soon the town was populated with snowmen of all kinds:  Snow knights, snow animals, snow unicorns, snow wildmen, snow mermaids and even snow village idiots.  From silly to politically charged and even eyebrow-raising, over 100 snowmen were created.  This festival would later become known as the Miracle of 1511.

Join me for a Twelfth Night celebration as such…

Come to the Land of Ice and Snow
Where upon the Barony of Ruantallan we shall bestow
A spectacle of snowmen of every kind
For the delight of all our friends to find

Blue and White you’re encouraged to wear
As these are the colours of our Barony so fair
Icicles, snowballs, snowflakes inspire
Beautiful gowns and robes to admire

And before the end of this wondrous night
You’ll be invited to a snowball fight
A silly game for friend and foe
At Twelfth Night in the Land of Ice and Snow
