The Barony of Settmour Swamp is honored to host King Konrad von Ulm’s and Queen Brenwen the Faire’s Fencing Championship held February 27th.  Outgoing champions Don Caine Ramsey and Don Thomas de Castellon have planned an exciting tournament.  The event will be held at Morris Catholic High School in Denville, New Jersey.

The Format for King and Queen's Fencing Championship is as follows:
The tournament will be the usual two-round format.  Epees may be used in the first round at the aggreement of both parties.  The second round will be schlaeger only.
Round 1 is a round-robin, and will be fought single-rapier only.  16 or 32 (to be determined based on numbers) fighters will advance from this round to the next round.  Scoring will be 2 points for a win, 1 for a loss, 0 for a double kill - dead is dead.
Round 2 will be double-elimination.  Fighters may use any weapons forms they wish.  Dead continues to be dead - any double-kills will not be re-fought unless Their Royal Majesties wish it.  Both fighters will be eliminated and a non-destructive bye will occur in the next round.
The finals will be fought best of five with random, non-matched rotating weapons forms.  Double-kills will be re-fought in the finals.
It is possible that due to double kills, the finals could result in a bye.  And we're ok with that.  One finalist just got lucky.  If the final four all double-kill, we shall mock them accordingly.

Day board will be included with the event and there will be a feast in the evening, prepared by Lady Charis Accipiter.  Please pre-register early to reserve seats, as the feast will be capped at 100, though there will be limited off board seating with bread and beverage provided for an additional fee of $2.00 over the site fee.
As the school has a brand new gymnasium floor, they have a strict no scuff shoe policy.  This means that only soft rubber sole shoes (like sneaker bottoms) will be allowed and no spurs will be allowed to be worn in the gym.  Also prohibited is any smoking anywhere on school grounds.  The site is discretely damp; alcohol is permitted but is to be served in period containers only and is restricted to the feast hall.  The event Schedule will be determined at the discretion of Their Majesties and their champions, and based on the overall length of the tournament.

Children are welcome but we ask you to please supervise your children at all times.  Anyone under the age of eighteen who is not with a parent must be accompanied by an adult and must present a consent form signed by a parent which includes contact information for the parents.  If a minor does not have a blue SCA membership card then a minor waiver signed by a parent or guardian must be presented at troll.  Copies of the minor waiver form are available on-line at http://www.sca.org/docs/waivers.html and will be available at the event.

Take your best route to I-80 westbound to exit 37.  Turn left onto Green Pond Rd.  Make your first right onto Morris Ave.  High school will be about one mile down on the left.

 
Registration Fees
Registration: Adult Member:  $11 with reservation and $13 at the door
Adult Non-member:  $14 with reservation and $16 at the door
Child under 6-17:  $5
Children under 5 are free
(All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.)
Troll will open at 10am and close at 5pm.
Reservation deadline postmarked 2/19

Feast: Feast Fee:  On board $8.00 per person- 100 person limit
Off board $2.00 per person 20 person limit
Off board tables will receive bread and beverage

Please send the following information with your reservation:  mundane and SCA
names for all persons included in the reservation, proof of membership for
all members included in the reservation (photocopy of membership card or
copy of cover of recent Pikestaff cover with the members name is
acceptable), contact information, and check or money order made out to SCA
Inc./ Barony of Settmour Swamp for the total amount of the reservation.  All
reservations *must be postmarked by February 19* and sent to:

Incomplete reservations will be returned.
Refunds will be available for those who are unable to attend the event.
Please contact Lady Siobhna at e.rose.green@gmail.com *before *the event to
request a refund form.  Refunds will be unavailable after the event.  Feast
fees will only be refunded if we are able to resell your feast space.

We will have Express Check-In at Troll for those who have made reservations.  To receive your express check-in letter, please include either your e-mail address (preferred) or a self-addressed stamped envelope with your reservation.  We encourage fighters and fencers to send in reservations so that they can get to the lists quickly! 
Note:  At 5:00 pm, unclaimed feast reservations will be sold to the waiting list.  If you plan on arriving after that time, please let the autocrat know.
A $3 non-member surcharge will be collected from those adults without proof of membership.  If you intend to use the express check-in, please send proof of membership with your reservation and a SASE for the express check in letter.  Acceptable proof of membership includes a copy of your membership card, a current Pikestaff label with your name on it, or the proof of membership letter from the SCA web site. 
Baronial refund policy:
1. Site fees and merchant fees will be refunded if your request is received before the event. 
2. Feast fees will only be refunded if your space can be resold. 
3. All refunds will be paid by check from the Baronial bank account; refunds requested on the day of event will be mailed out.
