Event details
Come to Paradise… “FOOL’S PARADISE”, Saturday, April 1st 2017.

This event brings to life my heart’s desire.  On the surface, “Fool’s Paradise” is going to be a silly day of fun and games celebrating April Fool’s Day.  Deep down, however, the name of the event describes the “Fool” that I am, delving into the realm of being the head cook, and the “Paradise” is my own paradise, in that all the food being offered will be 100% gluten free, not to mention, will include my two favourite meals:  Breakfast and Dessert.

Welcome to “Fool’s Paradise”:

Date:  Saturday, April 1st, 2017
Time:  11:00am – 9:00pm
Location:  Eastern Passage Buffalo Club, 625 Cow Bay Road, Eastern Passage, Nova Scotia.

Activities:  A day of silliness and backwardness:

*Begin the day with dancing!
*Dessert Dayboard Buffet (Available to all guests)
*Canton of Seashire Rattan Championship:Please contact Spurius Genucius Rutilus for tournament information and to send your letter of intent to fight:  stephane.c@ns.sympatico.ca
*Silly games such as “Poisson d’Avril” and “Juggling Jester Bean Bag Game”
*Children’s Craft:  Jester hats
*Bardic entertainment thanks to Lady Mairead!
*Costumes Encouraged!  This is your chance to dress as you please!  Dress as silly or magical as you wish:  Jesters, Fools, Mythical Beasts, and Cross-Dressing are all encouraged!
*Breakfast for Dinner Feast (*Maximum 60 On Board)
*Please visit our (unofficial) Facebook event page:  https://www.facebook.com/events/830028707127023/

**All Food Will Be 100% GLUTEN FREE!  In addition, there will be many dairy free or lactose free selections.  Menu and ingredients lists will be available.

**Bar Open:  4:00pm:  Beer, wine, shots, pop, juice and bottled water available.  All are encouraged to purchase you refreshments here as this is a way that the Buffalo Club raises funds for their organization.  Please drink responsibly and make sure you have a safe means to return home.  (City bus is available less than 1km away!)

**Flameless (LED)/ battery operated candles only please.  No open flame.

SITE RULES:

• ALCOHOL:  Will be available for purchase along with soft drinks when the bar opens at 4:00pm.  NO OUTSIDE alcohol is permitted.  Alcohol purchased on the premises must stay on the premises.  Consumption of alcohol is permitted indoors only…no alcohol is permitted outdoors INCLUDING the deck at the back.  Those not following these rules will be asked to leave immediately.
• FOOD:  In the spirit of the event being very sensitive to dietary restrictions, I would very much appreciate it if NO GLUTEN (INCLUDING BREAD) or NUTS be brought into the event.  I realize this may pose a difficulty for those who are attending offboard.  IF you MUST bring any of these foods with you, please keep it well away from the dessert dayboard area (which is open to all…onboard or offboard) and do not use your cutlery to serve yourself from this area and please keep your food items at your table during dinner.  Allergy concerns included on the guest list actually include gluten, dairy, lactose, nuts, raw egg, strawberries, peaches, red wine, beef and seafood.  I have prepared food and included ingredients lists with all allergies/dietary concerns in mind.
• SMOKING:  Smoking is not permitted inside the premises OR on the back deck.  Smoking must be done well away from doorways and windows outside.  There is a lovely gazebo and garden at the side of the parking lot which is well away from the building which would be an appropriate spot for smoking.
• NO OPEN FLAMES:  Real candles are not permitted but there are many LED candles available these days to create the ambience we enjoy.
• BATHROOMS/CHANGEROOMS:  There are no separate change rooms.  Bathrooms are open to whichever gender you feel most comfortable using.  Please be respectful of everyone.  This missive is courtesy of Baroness Alanna of Skye:  Her recent message:
“Greetings,
It sounds like you're going to be running a great event soon.  If you have the space, I'm hoping you will consider making a gender neutral changing area.  At the moment, we do have some trans or gender neutral gentles coming to events that may not be comfortable in the current options.  In addition with the concept of "lords" and "ladies" changing rooms and people with personas who may not match their preferred mundane gender, it's very possible to enter as a woman and reemerge as a lord.  I imagine that most of these people are fine with the current system, but there's no reason not to make it better!  I am hoping this may also help out families with children or who pack their stuff together, and people who need help with their garb who may find it easier to have a different gender friend assist them getting changed instead of depending on whoever else might be in the room at the time to help.  (Not that we aren't all willing, but it's often easier to get help from someone who knows you and your garb.) So if your site has space to add one room/tent/area similar to your planned changing rooms, it would be great to see this happen.  If you were already planning on it, please let me know so I can see how the idea is catching on across the kingdom.  I would be happy to help with any questions you have about implementing this idea, and if there's any feedback you have before or after that might help out me or other autocrats with making this a success please let me know.
In service,
Baroness Alanna of Skye”
