Event details

“And lest from lethargy or indolence we fall into the vain imagination that by some lucky accident we may in some way or another, when we would, escape--I know not if your opinion accord with mine--I should deem it most wise in us, our case being what it is, if, as many others have done before us, and are still doing, we were to quit this place, and, shunning like death the evil example of others, betake ourselves to the country…”

It’s the late 14th century in Florence, Italy.  A group of enthusiastic people have journeyed to a quiet manor house to hear stories and music:

“You will not each have told a story before the sun will be low, and the heat abated, so that we shall be able to go and severally take our pleasure where it may seem best to each.  Wherefore, if my proposal meet with your approval--for in this I am disposed to consult your pleasure--let us adopt it.”

The Crown Province of Ostgardr, along with the East Kingdom College of Performers is offering up a slice of life in the late 14th century as known by Giovanni Boccaccio.  This will be an immersion event of stories and music from The Decameron, as well as food appropriate for the time and place, in a setting reminiscent of Florentine villas of the time.  Attendees are invited to clothe themselves in garb befitting the day as well.

Artistically, the event is being coordinated by Lady Lilie Dubh inghean ui Mordha.  She can be reached at 112596@members.eastkingdom.org for queries about the stories or performers.  She cautions parents that this event is not child-friendly.  Parents will have to make their own decisions as to whether they want to bring their children to this event.

Music is being coordinated by Mästarinna Margaretha la Fauvelle (Margarita Rankin) lafauvelle@gmail.com if you are interested in playing music or singing for this event.

The kitchens for this event are being headed by Lord Friderich Grimme.  He can be reached at chaicken@gmail.com for any queries or notifications related to the menus, allergies, sensitivities or other food issues.  Any communications to Lord Friderich need to be to him by April 20, 2019 in order for him to be able to accommodate you.

The event will take place on April 27, 2019 at the American Legion Hall in the town of Mount Kisco.  There is ample parking on site and the local metro north train station is close to the site for those taking public transit to the event.  The site is, regrettably, not ADA accessible.
