|King's & Queen's Fencing Champions **UPDATED**||Event date: January 25th, 2003|
|Hosted by Barony of Settmour Swamp - Westfield, NJ||Event Last Modified: October 28th, 2002|
|Let word go out that, on January 25th, in the fair Barony of Settmour Swamp, a tournament will be held to select the King's and Queen's Rapier Champions.|
Come test your skills with the blade, celebrate the arts of the Renaissance, and savor the talents of our cooks. The site is the newly refurbished (and now heated) National Guard Armory in Westfield, NJ. The tournament will be held in the large main hall, but there will be additional space set aside for the gentler arts, including an A&S exhibition with a late period theme.
The site opens to the public at 10:00 a.m. The schedule for K&Q Fencing Champions has been changed as follows: Lists close 11 a.m. -- no exceptions, Tourney starts 11:30 a.m..
The site fee includes a dayboard. In addition, a special dayboard will be available between the rounds of the tourney for the combatants and the marshals only.
Lady Brighid ni Chiarain is preparing a succulent 16th century Spanish feast for our evening's pleasure. The feast is limited to 140 gentles. The feast is designed to be vegetarian friendly, but carnivores will not be disappointed. Unfortunately, the site has insisted that there be absolutely no alcohol consumption of any kind on the premises.
Site Opens: 10:00 a.m.
Site Closes: 10:00 p.m.

Take your best route to exit 135 on the Garden State Parkway (approximately 7 miles south of the intersection of the GSP and Route 78). From the north, bear right off the exit ramp onto Central Avenue towards Westfield. If coming from the south, proceed around the traffic circle, going under the Parkway, and follow signs for Westfield and Central Avenue. You will know you are on Central Avenue because you will see a Shop-Rite on your right and a Target on your left.
Follow Central Avenue going west for approximately 2 miles. At the 4th traffic light, you will see a Valley National Bank and a liquor store. At this intersection, make a left onto Grove Street. Follow Grove Street until it ends. Make a right onto Rahway Avenue. The site is 0.5 miles down on the left side, across from a large school. Parking is next the Armory, just past the main entrance to the building.
|Registration: $9 site fee for adults ($17 total for site fee and feast); $5 for children ages 14-4 ($11 total for site fee and feast); children under 4 are free|
Please bear in mind that the non-member surcharge of $3 will be in effect by this time (in some form yet to be determined as of this writing). Please remember to bring proof of membership for the adults (children under 14, because they are receiving a discounted fee, need not bring proof of membership). Also, if you are sending in pre-paid reservations, it would be very helpful to include proof of membership with your check. Your cooperation and patience with this new policy are greatly appreciated.
Feast: An additional $8 for the feast for adults; An additional $6 for children under 14.
There is no reservation deadline, but get your reservations in soon as we expect the feast to sell out.
