Hosted by Barony of An Dubhaigeainn - Huntington, NY
Event Last Modified: July 15th, 2009
Fighting, archery, brews and good food! What more could you want from an event?
The Barony of An Dubhaigeainn welcomes all good gentles to experience the varied talents of our populace, especially our greatest talents; fighting and brewing (drinking takes a close third).
Wax your bow strings, straighten your arrows, and dust off your bow! For archery is strong in the Barony! We will have royal rounds and our 2nd Annual Lord Petrus Memorial shoot. The tournament shoot is open to all. The highest scoring Baronial resident will become the newest Archery Champion for An Dubhaigeainn. The range will open at 11:30 for inspections, practice, and royal rounds. The tournament will begin at 1:30.
For the Rapier fighters there will be a fencing tournament called "Schlagers and Lagers". This will be a double elimination weapons of choice schlager only tournament. Each fencer is requested to bring a prize related to the theme (prizes may be cheap, fancy bottles preferred, contents will not be questioned). If the fencer is unranked, only one prize is requested. If the fencer is a cadet, 2 prizes, if he is a current champion, 3 prizes, if the fencer is a Don, 4 prizes, if the fencer is a Peer, 5 prizes. The winner takes all.
There will be a light day board served throughout the day, and a hearty eve board at night so that all appetites will be appeased. Rather than a sit down feast, the evening meal will be served “cocktail party” style so that there will be an opportunity to peruse the many brews available for tasting.
Speaking of brews, there will be brewing competitions to whet the parched. Baron Ateño will be running and in charge of judging the brewing competitions (its good to be the Baron). The categories include; most period recipe, nonalcoholic, and populace choice. That's right, we get to help!
For Period competition, all documentation must be included with the entry.
Populace choice judging will be for an hour before dinner. The brewer will be available with the brew to speak about and serve the brew. The Populace is encouraged to learn about each entry.
For evening entertainment, there will be a bardic competition, further details to come.
