[CANCELLED] Wrightstown Village Renaissance Faire [DEMO] Event date: September 15th, 2017 - September 17th, 2017
Hosted by Shire of Buckland Cross - Newtown, PA
Event Last Modified: August 31st, 2017

Event details
Good Day to all our shire members, friends, and neighbors,

We write to inform that we must step away this year from involvement with the Wrightstown Village Renaissance Faire.  We have been involved for over a decade.  The officers of Buckland Cross have voted it necessary, in this brief step away, to re-examine our relationship with the event and to properly resolve policy conflicts which newly exist between the Middletown Grange and the Society.
Please know that we are extremely grateful to all those who offered to volunteer this year.  Please also know that It is our sincere hope that these policy conflicts can be resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned so that our participation in what has always been a wonderful event for us may resume next year.

The Faire itself will go on, and if you wish to support the Library (the beneficiary) and many vendors who are friends, please do visit as a patron!

Yours in Service,
Buckland Cross

From the organizer's site:
The Village Renaissance Faire is a recreation of a 12th through 16th century village named Penn's Park.

The Village consists of eleven stages and various sets:  Merchant Squares, Living History Pavilions, Food Courts, Gaming area, Multi-cultural enclaves, Craft Corners, and Kid's Kingdom.

One weekend every year the fairgrounds are transformed into the ultimate family festival with stories, intrigues, history, crafts, varied entertainment, and interactive play.  The Village has all the entertainment, crafts, food, and history befitting the interest and entertainment of everyone, from peasantry to nobility, youth to seniors.

The Living History Pavilion provides the opportunity to watch the mending of armor, henna tattoos, the illumination of manuscripts, hand-to-hand combat and archery, among other demonstrations.  It will be difficult to decide what to do (or what to do first) as performers fill multiple stages and sets begin every half-hour.

From the Shire of Buckland Cross Event Stewards:
The local SCA and Markland groups provide much of the Living History Pavilion, and we invite all to join us.  We align with each year's theme as best we can, this year the theme is again Arthurian.

Please provide your name to the Event Stewards if you are coming - we need to provide a list of name's to the mundane gate for you to receive free entry.  Else your fee will support the local library, the beneficiary of the funds raised at this event.

Camping is available but the site is primitive.  There are no showers.  Food must be brought or bought from a vendor.  We generally do a potluck and have a raised firepit for the evenings.

More details to come!
Site Opens: Friday, 6pm for those camping and setting up.  Saturday 9am for those daytripping.
Site Closes: Sunday, 7pm
